About the Network

The DigitalJLearning Network:
Encouraging Online Courses in Jewish Day Schools and Yeshivot

About the Network

The Jewish Education Project, JESNA and The AVI CHAI Foundation are thrilled that in 2011-2012, 18 day schools and yeshivot in North America have formed the first cohort in a vanguard for advancing online and blended learning.

During this academic year, members of this DigitalJLearning Network are collaborating in documenting their successes, challenges, and promising practices with support from the three sponsors. Working together through an ongoing community of practice, the DigitalJLearning Network schools are all implementing online and blended learning solutions that meet particular needs of their schools. From remediation/credit recovery to enrichment and AP courses, from expanding course offerings to affording more flexible scheduling, DigitalJLearning Network schools are blazing new paths in Jewish Education.

Participation in the DigitalJLearning Network

Participating schools receive grant assistance to advance the adoption and integration of online courses. Additionally, each participating school receives expert assistance in the political, educational and technical aspects of adopting and integrating online learning into their educational programs. This expertise includes participation in communities of practice, collaborative learning, and the collection and dissemination of additional resources related to implementing online learning.

Issues related to the implementation of online learning in day schools and yeshivot are being carefully documented as we study and learn new ways to facilitate easier adoption by additional schools.
